5 Easy Ways to Prepare for Invisalign

After months, years, or decades of thinking about straightening your teeth, you’ve explored your treatment options, asked friends and family members about their experiences, and chosen Invisalign. Now what? The weeks between your initial consultation and the arrival of your clear aligners is a great time to focus on preparing. That way, the transition into life with braces is as smooth and stress-free as possible. In this blog, you’ll find helpful information on how to prepare for your Invisalign treatment. So, read on!

1. Figure Out Your Finances

At your first official appointment, you’ll be absorbing a lot of information – from how to remove your aligners to what you need to do to keep them clean. So, don’t leave navigating the financial side of your orthodontic treatment until the last minute! Instead, find the solution that works best for you now.

2. Start Brushing Your Teeth After Each Meal

To prevent your teeth from decaying and your trays from discoloring, you need to brush your teeth after breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any snacks you have. Starting this habit now won’t just benefit your oral health; it will help you navigate completing your oral hygiene regimen on-the-go!

3. Cut Back on Snacking

To stay on-track with your treatment plan, there are a few things you need to do, including wearing your aligners for 20+ hours a day. Since that doesn’t leave a lot of room for snacking, it’s a good idea to dedicate some time to finding well-balanced, satisfying meals that you genuinely enjoy now.

4. Create an On-the-Go Dental Care Kit

Brushing your teeth after each meal is an easy ask… until you’re eating breakfast at the office, grabbing lunch with friends, or taking a client to dinner. To make completing your oral hygiene regimen away from home easier, keep a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste in your car, your desk, or your purse!

5. Stock Up on Supplies

Your dentist will provide you with everything you need, including your clear aligners and a case for them. That said, some patients find it helpful to purchase additional products, like a tray cleaner, dental wax, or a removal tool. If you’re interested in buying any of these, it’s helpful to have them before your first official appointment. That way, you have everything you need from day one!
